الأسئلة الشائعة

How long should my answers be in IELTS Speaking Part 1?
Aim for a naturally extended answer rather than a one-word reply or an overly long monologue. A useful structure is: direct answer + reason or detail + personal example — for example: 'I really enjoy cooking. It helps me relax after a long day, and I especially love making traditional dishes.' There is no fixed sentence count; examiners reward answers that develop ideas naturally and communicate clearly.
What topics typically come up in IELTS Speaking Part 1?
Part 1 covers familiar, everyday topics about you and your life: your home, your hometown, your studies or job, your hobbies, daily routines, food, sports, music, weather, transport, and technology. The examiner is not testing your knowledge of these topics — they are testing your ability to communicate naturally in English about things you know well.
What should I do if I do not understand a question in Part 1?
If you did not hear a question clearly, you may politely ask the examiner to repeat it. Requesting this repeatedly, however, may make your speech sound less fluent overall. Avoid saying 'I don't know' or giving an answer unrelated to the topic — respond as naturally as you can, even if you are uncertain you understood every word precisely.
