الأسئلة الشائعة

When do I add -s or -es to the verb in the present simple?
Add -s or -es only when the subject is he, she, or it (third person singular): 'She works every day', 'He watches TV'. Add -es for verbs ending in -ch, -sh, -x, -o, or -ss: teach → teaches, go → goes. Change y to ies for verbs ending in a consonant + y: study → studies. With I, you, we, they — no -s is added.
What time expressions are commonly used with the present simple?
Frequency adverbs: always, usually, often, sometimes, rarely, never. Frequency phrases: every day/week/month, on Mondays, once a week, twice a month, in the morning/evening. These signal a habit or routine: 'I always drink coffee in the morning', 'She visits her family every weekend'. If you see these words, the present simple is often the natural choice for habits and routines, but always consider context — the intended meaning determines the tense.
How do I form a negative sentence in the present simple?
Use 'don't' (do not) + base verb for I, you, we, they: 'I don't eat meat'. Use 'doesn't' (does not) + base verb for he, she, it: 'She doesn't like cold weather'. Important: after doesn't, the main verb has no -s. 'She doesn't likes' is WRONG. Say 'She doesn't like'.
